Two homeless teenagers meet while seeking refuge in the basement of an abandoned building. What begins as a friendship sadly evolves into a mutual suicide pact.
I am passionate about sharing this story because it was very similar to my own when I was 22 years young and attempted suicide. I felt invisible, a burden and a great disappointment to my family growing up, so I did not think I would be missed. I relate most to the girl's story in Baby In The Basement. I want to bring more awareness for teens, parents and families impacted by the actions of suicide and attempts, especially in my LGBTQ community. I went back to college because it is never too late to live your dreams.
This was our first film and made by 75% community college students with a passion for filmmaking art. “Baby in the Basement” is making the film festival rounds May 2020 through June 2021, so stay tuned for more information about distribution once we wrap up the competitions. We appreciate your support of rising filmmakers as we are primarily female artists empowering one another to rise.

“Some of us will be forever lucky to never have to experience the pain and struggle of being homeless. But there are plenty of people who, for a variety of reasons, are forced onto the streets with limited resources. Dina Faye Gilmore’s new film Baby in the Basement tries to re-humanize this group of people that are so often treated as less than human.”
Actress Josette Aderhold as Girl/Mary & Michael Haberkamp as Pizza Boy
Empowerment Productions wrapped “Baby In The Basement” in April 2020 and will have more projects coming soon.
